(Note to those who have commissioned me: If you'd like me to repost your pic without a watermark so others can use it, please let me know. Conversely, if I've accidentally posted your pic without a watermark, then do tell me so I can apologise profusely and fix it.)

jenbachand asked for a picture of Sara and Grissom (and their dog), based on a scene from CSI episode 'Leapin' Lizards' (as meticulously screencapped here). I am...very much not a fan of CSI (every time Gil Grissom talks I want to jab a pointy stick through my eye), but this was fun to do nonetheless.

Commissioned by mosinging1986. And yes, I did redo the 'I Want To Believe' poster for this pic.

Hearing from that there was a girl Robin prompted immense quantities of WTFery on my part. As a past Batman geek I'm honestly ashamed of myself.

amaelgreenleaf commissioned this pic of her and Cedric on the bridge that connects Hogwarts and the rest of Scotland in the movies.

cerridwen666 commissioned this pic of Oliver and Percy from his sweet fic, 'Dropping In'. Percy is secretly delighted at the distraction, I promise.

An esteemed gentleman who is not in possession of an LJ account commissioned this pic of himself with some of the Hogwarts staff. This is the first time I've drawn Slughorn and he didn't come out badly, I don't think.

...McGonagall is drinking Gillywater. I decided that it's green based on absolutely no evidence.

Somewhat hasty commission update time!

Rules are like last time - watermarked images are not okay for use in graphics, and vice versa.

ghost_e wanted a reconciliation between Rowena Ravenclaw and her daughter, post-death. I enjoyed doing this one.

magic_at_mungos asked for Charlie's haircut from Deathly Hallows. Molly gets out her wand to do it, and I doubt she'd be using to to threaten him to keep him running away, so I went with 'magic haircut'.

This was commissioned by 1miracle as a gift for boywholives and dracolicious. I...don't know how two boys had kids. Probably magic. It's a valid explanation for most things in the HP world.

sexyscholar asked for Ron and Draco feeding each other chocolate frogs. Cute, yes. I surprised myself by drawing some semi-decent frogs.

asked for a scene from her fic, Wandering With Werewolves, to be illustrated.

I've also done some non-Potter commissions which will be posted soon.

Hi guys. I have no money, which makes it COMMISSION TIME. And also a sort-of art post, because a few people emailed me and I did stuff for them early, out of respect for their sneaky ninja-ness.

I didn't actually get the joke here until it was spelt out. Duh. Also, this is proof that I will draw basically anything, although 'George Weasley dressed as the Pope' gave me momentary pause.

Also, bergeronprocess has asked me to share the love, so this image may be used for icons and the like (the others, as the watermarks suggest, may not).

princess_stevie commissioned this, and also this pic of a Malfoy/Weasley baby (and possibly a Metamorphagus judging by the hair, I forgot to ask):

For pecking_keypads. Please notice that I took pains on making the Dark Mark look a bit less....sexual than it used to. And yes, that's Bellatrix in the pink monstrosity.

Pricing

Runs roughly as follows:

$10 for one 'Puff, no background
$5 for each additional 'Puff
$5-15 for a background depending on complexity

This is all a bit flexible - I'll give a quote based on what you ask for. Also a flat rate of $1 per transaction to cover PayPal fees.

I will draw basically anything. I will need good source images for non-Potter characters, original characters or Real People - although I will be able to draw original characters from a detailed description.

Note: I don't want to do any of the major canon scenes from Deathly Hallows because I might be doing them as a 'regular' update sometime, and I'd rather not charge people for stuff that they might get for free someday. Sorry for any disappointment there.

Email me at puff.commission@gmail.com, not my regular email, with your request in as much detail as possible. If you could include your LJ username that would be handy. Emails to 'book a spot' will be ignored. I'll post up a running order when I have one.

Does this brief reappearance mean you're back for good?

No Not quite. At present, most of my free time is going into my pet project - an original fantasy manga called Æther - and doing PotterPuffs with any regularity on top of that is too great a strain. Having said that, dipping my toes briefly back into the 'Puff pond has been fun, and there are still a few scenes from DH I'd like to do, so...I don't know. Keep potterpuffs on your friends list.

Also, I will briefly be reopening for commissions shortly, because I'm drowning in debt and now Dreamhost is breathing down my neck for hosting fees. More on that to follow.

Deathly Hallows Update 1

So this is a bit earlier than I said, but....I had nothing else to do this weekend. The first of two Deathly Hallows posts, and I've not been doing these in chronological order because I got impatient for doing the good stuff first.

...it follows that the next update will be really lame, but that's just something for you all to have to deal with.

This update contains SPOILERS for Deathly Hallows. If you haven't read basically the whole book and don't want a couple of plot points ruined, then you're best off elsewhere.

The fanfic I'm currently writing about her and Tom's contemporary love interest, Cecilia, currently stands at approx 18,000 words after I dropped out of NaNoWriMo and then let it languish. Alas.

Okay guys.

I was intending to write a long speech on why I'm doing this, but there's no need when it can be summed up in one sentence: I started doing this because it was fun, but it's not fun for me any more, and it was depriving me of time that could be spent on developing my own style. If I ever come across enough free time to start doing this again I might come back, but that is a big 'might'.

I am eternally grateful for how nice, supportive, generous and generally wonderful almost all of you have been since I started this up a few months ago.

A few loose ends:

hp_pens is bsolutely freaking ADORABLE. Mostly H/D, but not exclusively. I love it to bits. Go hence, go look, I endorse it thoroughly.

naomisketchpad - this is my new home. How exciting. I'll be sporadically posting fics, fanart, fandom essays and whatever else takes my fancy here. If you want to keep an eye on my creative side, this is where to do it.

So, erm, I think that's about it. I'll be leaving everything online until Dreamhost explodes. See you around, folks.

Hey, folks. First of all, a couple of apologies: this update was later than I hoped, and it's going to be smaller than I said it would be. I'm home from university right now because I'm sick, and I haven't been able to do much which requires concentration. I managed to get the House Ghosts and Heads of House finished early last week, so I'll post those up now. :) I also have a commission that I did a while ago to show you.

...so this was...time-consuming. Yes, I drew the Hogwarts crest myself; I was originally going to pull the official version to use as a background but it looked awful with the 'Puffs, so I did it myself.

Edit: The next person to tell me that the Bloody Baron's bloodstains look silver gets thwapped with a tuna or something. I know they are, but that's because in the books the ghosts are colourless. Because mine aren't, I used a bit of artistic license. Be happy. ♥

With Dan Radcliffe, Tom Felton, Alan Rickman, Gary Oldman, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, David Tennant AND the anonymously hot guys who play Viktor and Karkaroff IN THE SAME FILM, I'm gonna have to take me a bucket to drool in.

Morning, folks. Sorry I've haven't updated in a while, I've been busy.

Anyway. The original 'Death Eaters in lacy lingerie' idea has changed slightly, and I blame South Park. I was watching an episode where a bunch of Klansmen play a game of 'Who's Wearing The Silliest Thing Under Their Robe', and I...got inspired. Thus, I give you:

And yes, Bellatrix is wearing the Dark Mark boxers with her sensible string vest. Are they Death Eater standard issue? Did she steal them from Draco? WE MAY NEVER KNOW. Also, I'm not sure whether I meant to make it look like Lucius is about to molest Snape.

Good morning, all. The Great Unloved continues; two and a half pictures (you'll, ah, see what I mean), a fistful of icons and a note about commissions. Also, a reiteration: I'm aware that most of the icons are down. I'll get to it as soon as I'm bored enough to spend two hours messing around with HTML.

I loved the end of this chapter. Dumbledore kicked her ass with words. ...and the judicious application of a centaur, but hey.

If I put a head that big on Pansy's little legs, they'd be crushed. Also, you may have noticed that I'm in the process of adopting a new style for the uniforms, as ~~stolen shamelessly~~ adapted from the movie version.

In a moment of weakness, I told my mother about PotterPuffs, and now apparently she's checking the updates. Hi, Mum. In another moment of weakness (I'm having a lot of them lately), I offered to make her a wallpaper and she asked for one with her and Snape together. And, well:

NB: I'm vaguely aware that Trelawney's first name is spelt Sybill in the British version and Sibyll in the US version. I went with the former because, well, I'm British.

Finally, I am tentatively open to take commissions. However, when you email me, please be equipped with the following just so we can make our lives easier:

= The knowledge that a commission will involve payment, and that I can only accept money through PayPal. More details in the userinfo. I'm sorry that taking requests isn't practical any more, and that PayPal is the only safe way.
= A good description of exactly what you want - characters, poses, facial expressions, backgrounds. I'm uncomfortable with getting emails along the lines of 'I just want to book a slot, I'll tell you what I want later'.
= If it's not a HP character, I'll need a few good, full-body source pictures. If it's a HP character who gets no description in the books, I will need a picture or description of how you see him/her.
= What print size you'll need, if any (I default on A4 at 300dpi) and what formats you're going to want it in (I can provide just about any format, and the Photoshop file with the 'Puffs and background in separate layers)

Also, just because I need the stimulation, I am giving slight priority this time round to unusual commissions, non-Potter Puffs, original characters etc.

EDIT 5.30AM: Commission status is now CLOSED. Yes, I know, small window, but I'm working quickly at the moment. Those who have emailed me before now: I need to sleep but I'll get back to you soon.

I'm back, folks. Well, sort of.

I'm back online (and there's a fairly long-winded explanation of the whys and wherefores of my absence on my personal journal), but I won't be spending as much time as usual online or on my computer - I'm moving out to university next month, and getting ready for the move is going to take up a bit of my time.

A quick note about commissions: I'm sorry to the many people who emailed but I just couldn't get round to. Those I did reply to, I'll be getting back to you as soon as I can. If for whatever reason you don't want a picture any more, get in touch so I can free up your slot.

Anyway. A very small update - just one pic, I'm afraid. It'll take me a bit to get back into the swing of things - also, I haven't forgotten the icons are offline (at least for most people). I'll fix that up soon.

Note: I'm aware that some people can't see the pictures or icons or, well, pretty much anything any more. I tweaked something and it seems to be working for most people now but there are still some problems.

I've been told that a lot of people might be having issues because of firewalls or internet security software, which react to the anti-bandwidth theft code I'm using by preventing the images from loading.

You can fix this by going into your software and disabling the 'Block HTTP Referrers' function (I don't know how. There's a lot of different software out there and I don't have any. So please don't ask me - it should be easy enough to find if you look at the software settings). It won't compromise your computer's security - you can't get a virus through HTTP referrers.

P.S: It's come to my attention that some people can't see the pictures. I'm assuming this is because of some measures I've put in to prevent bandwidth theft. If you're trying to open a blank or a wallpaper, don't open them in a new window - just click and they will open in a new window by themselves.

P.P.S: If you want to report that it's not working, 'I am using *insert browser and browser version here* and the images don't work' is much, much more useful to me than 'I can't see the pictures'.

P.P.S: Wow, this is epic. I've done as much as humanly possible to fix the problem - I'm running Firefox and IE 6, and all the images work fine for me on both. It's working now for quite a few people who were having problems earlier - try refreshing, clearing Temp Internet Files/cookies/cache, and maybe restarting your computer. Sorry about the bother this is causing anyone.

Next thing on the agenda: FAQs in the literal sense. I've been getting a lot of emails and comments lately which have all been asking the same questions, and I just want to get them all dealt with in one fell swoop to avoid me going completely insane. I'm truly sorry if the rest of this post seems in any way unpleasant or snarky because that's not my intention - I just need to get a few things straightened out so we can go on without driving Naomi into dribbling mania.

Why haven't you answered my email/comment?

I read all my emails and all my comments. Religiously. If I haven't replied to you, it's because the question has already been answered in the FAQ (see below for enquiries about affiliation). I put the FAQ in the 'Puffs userinfo and assumed that, because the userinfo seems like a good place to find, y'know, information, everyone would look there before emailing me. They didn't. So for future reference: the FAQ is in the userinfo. I'll be updating it soon so it's as exhaustive as possible.

I sent you a message on AIM/MSN but you never replied. Do you hate me?

No, I love you. If I'm at my computer and I'm not too busy, I will reply to every instant message I receive. Honestly. But sometimes I'm off doing something else, and sometimes I'm deeply occupied in something I'm working on, and I admit that quite frequently I forget to exit AIM or put up an Away message. Your LJ has inspired me - do you mind if I make my own 'Puffs?

I'm being asked this increasingly often and I just find it to be bizarre. I know you're just trying to be polite, but really - the characters aren't mine, the style isn't mine, and I am not the boss of you. My default answer is 'yes, but minor credit for the inspiration would be nice, and I'd prefer if you didn't create another PotterPuffs journal'.

I am ____ and I run ____, an icon LJ/HP comic/etc. Will you affiliate with me?

At present, I am getting anything between five and ten of these emails per week, and I'm afraid my default answer is going to have to start being no. Apologies, but I simply don't like plugging people's journals when I have no idea whatsoever what they, as people, are like. I'm not going to remove any of my current affiliates and there are a couple I still have to add to the list, but unless it's a journal or site I visit anyway, I will probably not be taking up any more affiliates. I'm sorry. However, if you have a new LJ along the above lines, do feel free to drop me a line just because I like seeing them. ♥

Also, I seriously don't like being left LJ comments with the above question. You are probably not aware of it, but doing this puts out two messages: a) 'I am too lazy and don't care enough to email you' and b) 'I am trying to shame you into saying yes, because saying no on this public forum will make you look like a bitch'.

Seriously. I just don't have the time of day. I refuse to believe that there are people who still don't realise that using other people's (e.g. my) bandwidth is theft. This month, traffic to PotterPuffs has caused very nearly 70GB of bandwidth use and, although it's possible, I am reluctant to believe that's from regular traffic to this journal alone. All you need to register a Photobucket account is an email address and an IQ only slightly higher than that of a goldfish, which I'm hoping everyone here has, so DO IT ALREADY and stop leeching.

(A word of explanation: direct-linking is when you post a picture or icon onto a website without saving it to your own webspace first. You can get some webspace for hosting pictures for free on PhotoBucket, among others. If you are direct-linking, please be aware it is theft. If you are doing it with any of my pictures, please stop. Now.)

Good morning, folks. Since I love you all so much, the HBP update is a couple days early - and not only is it the HBP update, but it is the first of two HBP updates, since my 'to do' list ended up being longer than I thought it would be.

(Note: Canon!Blaise and/or Neville will not be appearing in either update. I really, really wanted to include Blaise because he's such a wonderful bastard, but I just can't find space for them right now, but I will soon.)

Note about icons: I feel the need to reiterate this point - please do not use any icons with major HBP spoilers (the identity of the HBP, who dies, how it happens) in non-spoiler threads until, let's put a number on it, August 16th AT LEAST.
